Researchers in the School of Integrative Plant Science (SIPS) seek science-based solutions to major challenges facing humanity, from food security in a changing climate to well-being in an increasingly urbanized world. Our research in four major challenge areas is empowered by our connected and collaborative working environment. These four main areas are Foundational Knowledge, Food Security, Environmental Conservation, and Human Health and Well-Being.

SIPS is made up of the Sections of Horticulture, Plant Biology, Plant Pathology and Plant-Microbe Biology, Plant Breeding and Genetics, and Soil and Crop Sciences. Faculty associated with SIPS are located primarily at the Ithaca and Geneva campuses of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) of Cornell University. More information can be found at https://sips.cals.cornell.edu/.

Graduate students are expected to work directly with their faculty mentor to develop their individual research plan and are encouraged to collaborate with members of other SIPS sections to produce original and impactful research.  More information about financial support for graduate studies can be found at https://sips.cals.cornell.edu/graduate/financial-support.
